Dr Lincoln Tan is a consultant urologist and accredited robotic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in prostate cancer diagnosis, risk stratification and minimally invasive treatment. He has extensive experience in managing prostate conditions and carrying out prostate biopsies, with a clinical approach focused on achieving accurate diagnosis while avoiding unnecessary procedures.

Dr Lincoln Tan's clinical work in Singapore has focused on improving how prostate conditions are diagnosed and managed, with a focus on making care more accurate, accessible and efficient for patients.
Advancing Risk Assessment Strategies
Dr Tan was the principal investigator of the first local study validating the Prostate Health Index (phi), helping to refine prostate cancer risk stratification. This has contributed to more precise decision-making, reducing unnecessary biopsies while ensuring that clinically significant cancers are detected early.
Pioneering Safer Techniques
Dr Tan was also among the early clinical leaders who introduced free-hand, office-based transperineal prostate biopsy techniques to Singapore. This technique has helped move prostate biopsy away from more invasive hospital-based procedures towards a safer, more efficient in-clinic approach with lower infection risk and improved patient comfort.
Across his practice, Dr Tan adopts a fuss-free, patient-centred approach to urology. He focuses on delivering quick and efficient diagnosis, with consultation-to-biopsy completed within 48 hours where appropriate. Procedures are carried out fully in-clinic without the need for hospitalisation, helping to reduce waiting time, avoid unnecessary costs and minimise disruption for patients.

Dr Tan has served as the director of urologic oncology at the National University Hospital (NUH) and the National Cancer Institute of Singapore (NCIS), as well as presently serving as a visiting consultant at NUH.
Men's Health Advocacy
He also remains closely involved in prostate cancer survivorship. He previously served as organising chairman for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and currently serves as Chairman of the Singapore Cancer Society Prostate Cancer Survivorship Programmes Advisory Committee, where he supports initiatives focused on long-term patient care and quality of life.
Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
Dr Tan has served an active role in postgraduate training as Director of Postgraduate Education and Core Faculty for the NUHS Urology Residency Programme, where he is involved in shaping and mentoring the next generation of specialists.
Beyond Singapore, he is part of the Asian Urological Surgery Training and Education Group (AUSTEG), supporting regional training in endourology. He has also delivered lectures on prostate cancer care across Asia, including in Indonesia, Malaysia, China, the Philippines and Nepal, reflecting his ongoing commitment to knowledge-sharing and advancing urologic care in the region.
